There are a few patients that come into the office that have really become my favorites. Today I had the privilege of one such visit. This couple is really special to me. I only know them from work, but they feel like family. The man was all scraped up and cut on one side and said he was there to get checked out after and emergency room visit. I asked him what happened as I was taking them back to the room. He said 'it was a bull'. I laughed and made a silly remark when his wife looked at me and I knew he wasn't joking. He had gone to feed animals for his grandson while they were out of town. From out of no where, comes a bull charging at him full force. The bull knocked him down and was bunting him through the field and rocks. His wife witnessed it all and was able to stay out of the bulls way. She apparently hasn't slept much since the accident. It plays over and over in her head and it has really been hard for her. Well, my friend was on the ground being pushed around by this large animal when he heard a very distinct voice tell him this twice, "grab his ears, grab his ears". My friend listened and even showed me where he pulled off a corner of his finger nail holding on so tight. Well, when he grabbed the bulls ears, the animal thrust its head up and back. My friend found himself standing on his feet! He was able to get to his truck and the bull was right behind and apparently closed the door of the truck with his head. My friends wife was safe for the moment. He went next door where some children were playing and got them inside. My friend was able to call the police who eventually showed up. The responding officer was chased around his car by the bull several times, until the owner of the animal came over, walked up to the bull, put a rope around his neck and went home. This had apparently happened in the past. The owner will apparently be cited but nothing more. My friend is okay after an ER visit to pull rocks out of the flesh of his arm and x-rays and such. There is some small bit of tearing in his shoulder but he said it was feeling better every day. The touching part was my friends acknowledgement of Heavenly Father's protection. He said he was a true believer in the thought that some thing good comes from every experience we have. He knew that the words "grab his ears" came from the spirit to protect him and probably save his life. He was having trouble with his asthma and breathing earlier in the day and was told at the ER that his lungs sounded really good. The adrenalin that was running through him during his encounter with the bull acted basically like a steroid shot and cleared up his lungs...another miracle! Hearing this made me so thankful to know that we really aren't alone and that our Heavenly Father really does care about us and even our seemingly uneventful times. I'm so very glad my friend is okay and doing well. He must have more things to do here. He's a good guy and his wife is wonderful too. As they were leaving I told him to take care and be careful...he assured me he'd be careful and said, "and that's no bull"! :)
